About Us
We believe in Jesus Christ and his healing power.
We believe in Jesus! We hold that it is necessary to both encounter Jesus and respond to his offer of saving and healing grace that he offers to all who would call upon his name.
We trust in the work of the Holy Spirit. That He is active in healing, empowering, and making people holy and whole as they commit to follow Christ.
We trust in our heavenly Father who cares enough to send his Son to walk among us, teach us face-to-face, heal us, and take the weight of the world’s sinful brokenness upon his shoulders to his cross.
We believe in the inspiration of Scripture as God’s revealing of himself to us. And, we trust that it is good for building us up in faith and for ordering our lives as we humbly receive it and as the Holy Spirit opens our hearts and minds to understand.
What’s a Wesleyan?
At the risk of oversimplifying…
Wesleyans are Christians who focus on holiness. What that practically means is that we pray that the Holy Spirit would make us excellent at loving like Jesus does. True holiness finds its practical expression in perfect love—our greatest example of which is found in Jesus Christ. To be clear, we don’t hope for a legalistic, holier-than-thou growth in holiness. But truly the kind of practically loving, keenly-aware holy love that Jesus showed to all those who came to him in need.
Wesleyans are evangelistic in posture and active in compassion work. We care about standing up for justice for the mistreated and maligned. We are in the Protestant stream of Christianity and tend to be flexible in our local church organization. We believe in the equal honour and value of all people as made in the image of God. And we also believe women have both an ability and a blessing to serve the Lord in pastoral ministry.
Officially, this church is a part of the Wesleyan Church of Canada. If you’d like to learn more specifics, please check out our Articles of Religion.
